Adult Classes
Leadership training will be provided using gentle means. Punishment based techniques are not used in our classes. Strong balanced leadership is important and we achieve this through consistency, establishing rules and following through with them. There are gentler ways to achieve the results you desire.
Training through gentle means offers you the opportunity of building a wonderful long lasting relationship with your dog. It also offers a bridge of communication for your dog to better understand what you expect of them. A dog learns quickly when it is calm, attentive and enjoying the interaction, contributing to a well behaved and mentally balanced dog.
Classes are held on Tuesday evenings starting typically between 630pm and 8pmand are held at the Hillcrest Sports Center in the very west space where gymnatics were held prior. Payment in full is required during the first class. Choke chains, slip, prong, shock and anti bark collars are strictly prohibited in these classes.
Adult Foundational Education (for dogs at least 7 months and older)
6 weeks long meeting for approximately 1 hour per week
This class is a great avenue to continue education if you participated in the Prevention Is Key Puppy Education. It gives you an opportunity to further refine your dog's skills around new dogs and people while teaching new behaviours. This is also a great class if you are just beginning formal training and your dog is 7 months or older.
Fundamentals such as the sit, down, leave it, take it, stay, drop it, focus and loose leash walking will be covered. Threshold control (doorway bolting), stopping jumping up and polite greetings with people and other dogs will also be part of this curriculum.
Adult training classes are very important to participate in for you and your dog. It offers further guidance on how to deal with adult behaviours you may have never encountered before and offers consistent feed back on how to deal with unwanted behaviour.
Dogs are required to be up to date on their vaccinations and a copy of these vaccination records are required at the beginning of the first class of instruction.
